    On May 7-9, 2024, COLA held its third annual Laboratory Enrichment Forum in Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Capstone speakers Rochelle Walensky, MD, MPH, the 19th Director of the CDC, and Lee Fleisher, MD, the former Chief Medical Officer and Director of the CMS Center for Clinical Standards & Quality, shared their insights into the pivotal role of laboratories in delivering high-quality, cost-effective patient care.

    On May 7, 2024, Executives from laboratory organizations nationwide convened to look back at the group’s accomplishments and to set a course for working together in the coming year.

  • CMS EXTENDS COLA’S DEEMING AUTHORITY FOR SIX YEARS

    One March 6, 2024, CMS granted COLA an extension of its CLIA deeming authority for another six years. This approval solidifies COLA’s standing as a trusted accreditor of clinical laboratories nationwide. 

  • COLA JOINS CDC PREPAREDNESS EFFORT

    In January 2024, COLA became a signatory to the CDC’s MOU for collaboration to enhance diagnostic surge testing capacity for public health emergencies.

  • COLA’s CEO APPOINTED TO PROJECT SANTA FE FOUNDATION BOARD

    Nancy Stratton was unanimously named to the Board of the Project Santa Fe Foundation in September 2023. As a catalyst for Clinical Lab 2.0 (CL2.0), the Project Santa Fe Foundation is a coalition of laboratory leaders focused on defining the true value of the clinical laboratories to the healthcare ecosystem in a future where value-based payment models are the norm.
